At the Julia Ideson Building of the Houston Public Library, 500 McKinney
The Houston Public Library Foundation's fifth annual Party in the Stacks showcases the restored Julia Ideson Building, which was designed by renowned architect Ralph Adams Cram and served as the city's central library from 1926 to 1976. Docents and HPL staff will be available throughout the evening to provide details about the Specialty Library and the building.
Guests will enjoy an early supper by Jackson and Company in the beautifully restored Reading Room and dancing to the music of Yvonne Washington.
Proceeds benefit The Houston Public Library Foundation, whose mission is to help libraries remain the heartbeat of the city and provide critical services such as free programs, more access to computers, books, e-books and After School Zones.
